I just finished this.

It was beautiful. I dunno if I’ve ever written it on tumblr, but I have a serious love for stop-motion and claymation. That (& Philip Seymour Hoffman) was the main reason why I was so excited about this film. It did not disappoint.

It’s about a lonely eight-year-old Australian named Mary who becomes pen pals with a forty-something obese man named Max with Asperger syndrome living in New York. The main focus of the film is their letters and their friendship, which lasts for about twenty years. It was a sad story, yeah, but it did have some humour and was well-written and enjoyable.

Visually, I think this film is perfect. The attention to detail was incredible. The colour scheme was black and white in the New York scenes and sepia tones in the Australian ones. The only other colours were bright, primary reds that really drew my attention and almost seemed to bring a bit of life to the otherwise drab scheme.

If you dig animated films as much as I do, I’m sure you’ll enjoy this film. It’s a little heartbreaking at some points, but it’s fixed with a very bittersweet ending.

This Japanese song sounds Korean to me, especially everything about YB (RIGHT??). Out of the five, the one who pulls it best is probably T.O.P but maybe that’s because he only does the rapping and in English too.
